Position Details

Location: Utah, Wyoming, Idaho, Nevada, Colorado, and Arizona.(We are based in Utah and do not offer a relocation program.)

Travel: Required throughout the Western US for extended periods, with company-provided accommodation.

Your Mission: Transporting Critical Infrastructure
The Experienced Heavy Haul Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient transport of Grade Tech’s equipment fleet to and from remote substation, solar, and utility civil job sites.
Key Responsibilities Include:

Heavy Haul Transport: Safely operate Class A commercial vehicles, including lowboy, tilt-deck, and specialty trailers, to transport large construction machinery such as excavators, loaders, graders, and dozers, and supporting units like water trucks and cement trucks.

Load Mastery & Securement: Expertly load, balance, and secure specialized and over-dimensional heavy equipment using chains, binders, and straps, ensuring 100% compliance with all DOT regulations for weight and securement.

Transmission Expertise: Demonstrated proficiency operating commercial vehicles with 18-speed manual transmissions in various terrains and conditions.

Pre- and Post-Trip Inspection: Conduct thorough inspections, perform fluid checks, and manage minor mechanical maintenance to ensure the reliability and safety of the truck and trailer combination.

Logistics & Compliance: Maintain meticulous digital and physical logs, paperwork, and documentation, strictly adhering to all Hours of Service (HOS) and DOT regulations.

Team Cohesion: Work closely with Dispatch and field crews to coordinate complex deliveries and pickups, requiring a “Stay Humble” attitude and collaborative mindset.

Required Experience & Skills:

3+ Years of Verified Heavy Haul Experience transporting large civil construction equipment (excavators, dozers, graders).

Active and valid Class A CDL License with a clean, safe driving record (current MVR required).

Proven expertise in operating 18-speed manual transmissions.

Exceptional knowledge of heavy equipment loading and complex cargo securement techniques.

Ability to troubleshoot, fix, and maintain truck and trailer equipment.

Willingness to travel for long durations and work the hours required to meet project schedules.
